The Admissions Reader is a member of the staff of the Office of Admissions and contributes to the overall efforts of Bucknell University. Typical work schedule is approximately 20 hours per week but flexibility exists based on experience, availability and interest. 

Job Duties: 
Reports to an Associate Dean of Admissions, and works in collaboration with the Dean of Admissions and other Admissions team members. Primary responsibilities surround the application review process; specifically, reviewing and evaluating applications from a highly selective pool. Additional duties may include project assistance. 

Minimum Qualifications: 
1. Bachelor's degree
2. Appreciation for highly selective liberal arts institutions
3. Reasonably informed about the college application process
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality, work with sensitive issues and to exercise good judgment under pressure
5. Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment that requires one to be able to work effectively both independently and as a team member
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
7. Solid computer skills

Preferred Qualifications: 
Ability to review and synthesize applications and supporting documents using critical thinking and analysis skills to efficiently and succinctly summarize the strengths and merits of the applicants.

The Community

Located in central Pennsylvania, Lewisburg features a variety of restaurants, beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), charming shops and boutiques, and the Barnes and Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore. About 33,000 residents live in the region.

The city of Williamsport is about a 30-minute drive from campus, and Penn State University’s main campus is about an hour away, as is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s state capital. Bucknell is about three hours from New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

The cost of living here is low compared to that of major U.S. cities and suburbs.
