Facilities is seeking a Vehicle Equipment Mechanic to be responsible for all phases of maintenance and repair for Bucknell fleet vehicles and equipment assigned to the Department of Facilities. Duties include but are not be limited to:
• Service, maintain and perform minor repairs on all vehicles/equipment assigned to the Facilities Department. Perform maintenance and repairs on buses. Perform upkeep, maintenance and repair of all test equipment, tire changer, garage area, car wash and other related equipment as assigned. • Perform pre-inspection of vehicles before annual state inspection. • Oversee the operation and workload in the absence of the Fleet Supervisor. • Monitor the status of Facilities Department vehicles being repaired in other shops and take follow up actions as necessary. • Establish, maintain, and update maintenance records and forms for Facilities Department vehicles. • Change snow tires, tires, grease and oil, filters, anti-freeze, batteries and other related items. • Assist in establishing and maintaining a spare parts supply system and storage area. • Maintain clean, safe and secure work and storage areas. • Process purchase orders for repairs, parts and equipment. • Detail and wash vehicles as workload requires. Minimum Qualifications: ● 3 years prior vehicle maintenance experience to include buses. ● A degree or certificate in automotive technology or related field of study ● PA state vehicle safety inspector license ● Experience with basic tools to perform vehicle maintenance. ● Proven ability to work with a minimum of supervision. ● Ability to and willingness to work cooperatively with other employees and delegate work effectively. ● Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. ● Thorough knowledge of safety procedures in the use of tools and equipment. ● Valid driver's license and safe-driving record for the past 3 years. ● A high school diploma or equivalent.
● Must be able to work overtime, particularly when an emergency exists or special programs require it as determined by immediate supervisor. ● This position is classified as part of essential services. Individual is required to report to work even if campus has a delayed opening, early closing, or is closed, unless instructed otherwise by a supervisor or when the individual has concerns related to his/her personal safety. ● A post offer criminal background, driving record check and drug screening will be conducted.
