The Engineering Event Assistant will provide event support to the Dean of the College of Engineering's Office. This is a casual position that will be scheduled to work during heavy peak periods throughout the year (2 to 8 weeks per year). Candidates for this position must have the ability to work up to 20 hours per week during these peak periods to assist with various events through June 30, 2019. This is a casual, non-benefits eligible position.
Job Duties: * Assist in the preparation for engineering events and programs often associated with the BEAA with such items as event name tags, event handouts, event gifts, and moving, sorting, and packaging items from one location to another. * Assist during the actual events and programs often over the weekend and involving long hours with tasks such as moving materials from prior event spot to new event spot, posting posters and signage, program and event materials handling and organization, event registration area set-ups, greeting guests and handling their registration at events/programs. * Assist with event clean-up requiring collecting materials (some of it large and heavy), boxing, and moving materials to our personal vehicles and/or storage for later Facilities pick-up delivery. Unloading materials from personal vehicles and moving it into the Deans Office after events/programs. * Additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: * Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast paced environment that requires a high degree of attention to detail * Demonstrated ability to multi-tasking and prioritize * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability converse with diverse groups of people
Preferred Qualifications: * Event support experience a plus
Physical Demands: * Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
