The Writing Center Coordinator will provide essential administrative support to the Writing Center and the Writing Program at Bucknell University.  This role will assist with daily operations, managing schedules and data, and generating and responding to student, faculty, staff and public communications regarding the Writing Center and Writing Program.  

This is a full-time, benefits eligible position that reports to the Director of the Writing Center.

Job Duties:
For the Writing Program:
• Enters course information into database to designate courses as W1s or W2s at the conclusion of each writing course approval process.
• Maintains records of the course proposals from faculty that have been submitted online to the course approval committees.
• Acts as a liaison and resource to faculty in regards to the Writing Program. Responds to inquiries and provides information regarding the program, course approval process, deadlines, and refers them to the Writing Program Director, Writing Center Director or staff as appropriate.
• Compiles and maintains the records pertaining to W courses in the database to ensure accurate and up to date data used by faculty, staff, and students during advising, course registration, and throughout the academic year.
• Assists with Writing Program assessment efforts by managing data as needed.

For the Writing Center:
• Provides organized and efficient administrative management of all day-to-day activities and programming to include, but not limited to, supervising scheduling, answering the phone, greeting and guiding clients to appropriate meetings and resources; monitoring and providing supplies for the Center's main office and satellite office; assisting in event and workshop planning, implementation, and publicity; troubleshooting specific problems as they arise; and assisting staff in the discussion, evaluation, and revision of office and operational procedures.
• Reads and edits, as needed, session summaries completed by writing consultants and shares them, when indicated, with faculty members.
• Assists in the supervision of approximately 40 student peer writing consultants; uses judgment to schedule appointments of student clients with appropriate peer writing consultants or staff members, evaluating relevant information pertaining to each situation.
• Maintains and monitors the monthly office budget statements and provides input into the budget planning process as appropriate. Assists in preparing and submitting the annual budget request to the office of the Provost.
• Assists in the supervision of student office employees. Approves all student employees' online biweekly payroll information.

Minimum Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of 2 years of strong administrative/office management experience
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness is essential
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative with minimal supervision
• Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to working courteously with students, faculty and staff
• Excellent writing, oral communication, and basic mathematical skills
• Previous supervisory skills
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy setting
• Ability to handle confidential information on a routine basis
• Ability to maintain budgets
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel; database systems and data entry; Google software; and a variety of web browsing programs and ability to adapt to changing technology and systems

Preferred Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree
• Understanding of the principles of writer-centered consulting and ability to educate clients, including students, staff, and faculty, about pedagogies practiced in the Writing Center
• Previous experience in higher education including knowledge of the operational structure of a university's offices and resources
• Experience with Banner and Qualtrics
