Bucknell University's Department of Athletics and Recreation seeks to identify a pool of interested candidates to assist in select athletic events throughout the academic year. The responsibilities for each opportunity will vary, but the focus is on event operations for varsity athletics and recreational programming.  

Opportunities available include (but are not limited to) the following: 
Ticket takers
Colorado Timing System Operator - Swimming and Water Polo
Hytek Computer Operator - Swimming
Scoreboard Operator
Ticket sellers
Ticket monitors/assistants 
Coat check
Will call table
Scorekeeper - Water Polo
Video camera operator
Sound system operator
Runners to post results and hand them to coaches
Event assistants
Parking lot attendants
Usher
Lifeguards
Weight Room Attendants
Bachman Golf Center Monitor
PA Announcers
Statisticians
Video Board Operators
Bison Vision/Patriot League Network (Some specific positions include director, graphics/replay, camera operators, and announcers.)
Bison Sports Network play-by-play announcer
Officials Liaison

They hourly, non-exempt positions and are not eligible for University benefits. Candidates must professionally and respectfully support a diverse and inclusive student body, faculty and workforce.

To apply for the position of Lifeguard, you must possess the following qualifications: 

1. Current American Red Cross certification in Lifesaving, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED & First Aid. 

2. Successful completion of skills test: 
* Swim 300 yards continuously using breaststroke & front crawl. 
* Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs 
* Complete a timed event in 1 min 40 sec 
* Retrieve diving brick from bottom of pool (14 ft) 

3. Must be at least 16 years old.

The Community

Located in central Pennsylvania, Lewisburg features a variety of restaurants, beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), charming shops and boutiques, and the Barnes and Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore. About 33,000 residents live in the region.

The city of Williamsport is about a 30-minute drive from campus, and Penn State University’s main campus is about an hour away, as is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s state capital. Bucknell is about three hours from New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

The cost of living here is low compared to that of major U.S. cities and suburbs. Bucknell’s surroundings yield fresh produce, cultural activities and events, and many opportunities for outdoor activity on the Susquehanna River and in the nearby state parks and forests. The Lewisburg Area School District receives excellent reviews for its schools at all grade levels. Lewisburg Area High School is consistently ranked among the top 50 high schools in Pennsylvania for SAT scores and statewide exams.
